Sanjay Memorial Government Women’s College, Phulbani, is the only women’s college in the entire district of Kandhamal a tribal and hilly district. The college was founded in 1981 as an Intermediate College and taken over by the government in 1982. It attained the status of a Degree College in 1989. Sanjaya Memorial Government Women’s Higher Secondary School, Phulbani erstwhile Junior College is also running in the same building under the administration of the same Principal. The college is purely an Arts college & it affiliated to Behampur University. Since its inception, the college with its committed and dedicated academicians has been a premier centre of learning and has been imparting quality education to the girl students of this educationally backward district. The serenity of the campus adds to the pristine purity of its ambience. The college aims at instilling a sense of discipline and camaraderie among the students in addition to value based education.
The Study Centre of Odisha State Open University (OSOU) started in the college in the year 2017 & offers P.G., U.G., P.G. Diploma, Diploma and Certificate courses.
